"The giant has woken up." Lawrence Lessig
Bearsville Theater WOODSTOCK
Killswitch is about the battle for control over the Internet. Lawrence Lessig, Tim Wu and Peter Ludlow frame the story of two young hactivists, Aaron Swartz & Edward Snowden, who symbolize the disruptive and dynamic nature of the Internet. Their lives parallel one another as they free information to millions on the Internet, putting them directly in the cross-hairs of the most powerful interests in the world. Will this be a cautionary tale of what happens when you dare to take on elite power structures? Or will it be the spark that ignites a revolution that will redefine democracy in the digital age?
Tim Wu is an author, policy advocate, and professor at Columbia Law School. He is also a fellow at the New America Foundation, and a contributing editor at The New Republic.
Lawrence Lessig is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School, and director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University.
Peter Ludlow is a professor of philosophy at Northwestern University. Research areas include conceptual issues in cyberspace, particularly questions about cyber-rights and the emergence of laws and governance structures in and for virtual communities.
